New Mexico State University’s (NMSU) Descubre program allows for qualified Mexican Nationals to pay a discounted tuition rate of 150% of New Mexico’s in-state tuition. Based on academic year 2016-2017 tuition rates, students participating in the Descubre program will pay $4,691.20 per semester for tuition and fees versus $10,617.00 for all non-residents.  Students who are considered residents pay $3,364.00. This is an exceptional value for Mexican students, offering one of the most competitive tuition rates for Mexican nationals anywhere in the U.S.

Who is qualified to participate in the Descubre Program?

All Mexican citizens admitted to undergraduate or graduate programs and possessing a visa sponsored by NMSU’s Office of International Student and Scholar Services.

Why is NMSU offering this competitive opportunity?

The economic interests of New Mexico and Mexico are tightly interwoven. NMSU anticipates that a lower tuition rate will provide educational opportunities to more students from Mexico, especially from the states of Chihuahua and Sonora. As students return home, they will serve as ambassadors for New Mexico and NMSU, as they become drivers for economic development in their communities. Their presence helps to ensure that economic growth in Mexico will translate into economic opportunity for New Mexico. Additionally, Texas and Arizona both provide resident tuition for citizens of Mexico.
