CELP TESOL/TEFL Certificate Program

Pre-req:  BA and B2 or above for non-native English speakers.

In partnership with New Mexico State University, the Center for English Language Programs offers the TESOL/TEFL Core Certificate Program (TCCP). The TCCP aligns with TESOL’s core standards for certification for teachers who want to teach English abroad. CELP’s TCCP provides students the following:

Teaching Methods and Cultural Awareness


Course Description
The course will focus on the overview of second language acquisition theories and best practices in ELL instruction. An overview of the teaching strategies and techniques that can be successfully implemented in ESOL/EFL classrooms will also be addressed. This course will include step-by-step lesson plans that will meet the TESOL/TEFL core standards, as well as explore the various cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the students.
